While Goshen-Gottstein is going to make the case that Hinduism is not idolatry (avoda zara), he nonetheless has a strategy to incorporate Hinduism into a useful tool for Jews by softening Jewish hatred for avoda zara and making it something that can be learned from. He again makes it clear that Hinduism may not even be avoda zara and that Hindus may worship the same god as the Jews. He is trying to make Hinduism more palatable for Jews who may not be convinced it is not idolatry and thus open their mind to using Hindus as an administrative class for Noahide world order.
- Just because a religion is avoda zara (idolatry) does not mean that it has no value or anything to teach.
- Modern Jewish, even Othodox Jewish, spiritual tourism to India recognizes that Hinduism has elements of avoda zara but today there is an understanding that there is something to learn from Hinduism.
- However it is admitted that in the Messianic Age Hinduism will cease to exist as all will be engaged in correct worship of the god of Israel (Noahide).
- However, with deeper study of Hinduism, Jews may find it is not avoda zara at all.
- The categorization of Hinduism as avoda zara would not mean that Jews needed to end all engagement with it.
- Hindus can be worshiping the same god as Jews but in idolatrous form.

ReplyDeleteJudaism is not an organised religion. It is therefore like a leaderless political party without the ability to expel its members. In other words, it is a headless chicken, just like Sunni Muslims who cannot agree on anything. Gentile non-Muslims would be foolish indeed to take anything any rabbi says seriously. If one rabbi were to say something, you would be able to find another rabbi who says the opposite with no final court of appeal until the Sanhedrin is restored.
ReplyDeleteIf there are heretical rabbis prepared to say Hinduism is Noahide if asked to do so by the highest bidder, there will be others prepared to denounce this heresy.
